Entrepreneurial Roots
Born in 1966 to Swiss and Norwegian parents, I grew up in Oslo, surrounded by hard work and entrepreneurship. From selling Christmas trees to washing dishes in my family’s restaurant, these early experiences taught me the value of taking initiative and creating opportunities.
Curiosity as My Engine
As a teenager, curiosity led me to technology. I taught myself programming on a Commodore computer and, at 14, joined Telenor’s data clubs—the youngest participant among adults. Exploring early innovations like remote access and online shopping sparked a lifelong interest in Apple and problem-solving.
Finding My Path
At 16, I moved to Switzerland to train as a chef, following my father’s footsteps. Two years later, after a solo bike journey back to Norway, I realized my passion lay elsewhere. I shifted to the IT industry, joining a computer firm where my drive for innovation and connecting with people quickly made me the top salesperson.
Starting My First Company
At 21, I co-founded Cappa Data in my parents’ garage, determined to challenge Norway’s overpriced Apple market. By importing Apple products directly from the U.S. and introducing fresh marketing strategies, we reshaped the industry. Cappa Data became one of Norway’s largest Apple dealerships, eventually securing official reseller status and collaborating with Tenba to design popular laptop bags.
Business Before School
In 1989, I enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Business Administration and Marketing at the BI Norwegian School of Management in Oslo. But as my business grew, I chose to focus on entrepreneurship instead of finishing my degree. A decade later, I returned to complete it.
Bringing Norwegian Software to Switzerland
In 1996, after my mother’s passing, I moved to Switzerland at the age of 30. There, I introduced SuperOffice, a Norwegian CRM software, to the Swiss market. By securing exclusive distribution rights, I successfully established the brand in Switzerland, turning it into a recognized name.
Furnished Apartments Before They Took Off
In 1997, I started a business offering fully furnished rentals for expatriates in Zurich. To stand out, I added services like cleaning and laundry and infused a Scandinavian design touch. The demand quickly grew, attracting quality tenants. After three years, I decided to invest directly in the residential market.
Real Estate by Coincidence
In 2000, I bought my first 12-apartment building in Zurich, using personal savings and taking on significant debt. I handled everything myself—renovations, rentals, and property management. By using cost-effective solutions like IKEA kitchens and imported floors, I steadily increased rental income and gained valuable experience in the real estate market.

Completing the Circle
In 2000, I returned to school to finish my bachelor’s degree and a master’s in Customer Relationship Management. At the same time, I started a relocation business, helping wealthy Scandinavians move to Switzerland with tailored services.
Building Helvetica
In 2006, I co-founded Helvetica after spotting an opportunity in the Swiss real estate market. The first fund launched in 2007, attracting 2,500 Norwegian investors and delivering a 30% return by 2014. Helvetica continued to grow, becoming a regulated Swiss fund manager in 2016 and listing its flagship commercial real estate fund on the SIX Swiss Exchange in 2019.
Turning a Gondola Dream into Reality
In 2019, I helped bring the long-discussed Romsdalsgondolen project to life in Åndalsnes, Norway. After nearly 60 years of debate, the project gained momentum following a front-page interview sparked by a knee injury I suffered while hiking in the region. The gondola opened in May 2021 and has since boosted local tourism.
Stepping Back as CEO
After 17 years as CEO, I stepped down in early 2024, leaving behind a firm that had grown into a key player in Swiss real estate. I remain on the board, contributing to its strategic direction.
A Bike with a Story
My original Cilo bicycle from my 1984 solo journey now sits at Helvetica’s headquarters—a symbol of resilience, long-term thinking, and the values that have shaped my journey.
